Accessing Your Books on FluencyLink & Joining Your Teacher’s Class

Creating your account

Students who either purchase their Cheng & Tsui digital books directly from Cheng & Tsui, from their school bookstore, or receive their Cheng & Tsui digital books from their school bookstore as part of their financial aid package will be provided an access code.

This access code is required to register a new user account on fluencylink.com. Once registered, this access code will also unlock the books and any other materials associated with your license.

To create your account:

  1. Go to fluencylink.com. You will see the login screen.

  2. Click New user? Register here.

  1. In the New Account screen:

    • Enter your information in the registration fields. We recommend that you use your school email to register your account. If you do not have a school email, use another email.

    • Paste your access code in the Access Code field. Note: If you received more than one access code, paste one of them here. Instructions for how to activate your remaining access codes follow, later in this document.

    • Confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use by selecting the checkbox.

  1. Click the Register button.

  2. You will see a confirmation message that the account has been registered. Click OK, which will log you into your FluencyLink account.

  1. You will see your book(s) on the Dashboard Library.

(Note: At this point, you still have the individual user account view. You can access your digital books, but you will not see other options related to being a student in a class. Your instructor will send you your Class Enrollment Token. Once you receive this token from your instructor, follow the steps below under Joining your Class.)

(Note: If you are an independent user, you have finished registering and should be able to access your materials after this step.)

Joining Your Class

The act of joining a class will convert your user account profile from a simple user to a student user. After you join your instructor’s class, you will continue to see your books on your dashboard along with some additional features available to students on the FluencyLink platform.

To join your class:

  1. Click your account name in the upper-right corner of the FluencyLink screen to open the drop-down menu and select Account.

  1. In the Add Class Enrollment Token field, paste the token you received from your instructor and click the Add button.

  1. You will get a message to log out and log back in.

  1. After logging back in, you will see that your user view has converted to the student view.

  1. In the upper right of the screen, click on the account name and select My Account from the drop-down menu.

  1. You will see that you are now associated with your instructor’s class.

Joining a Different Class

If you need to leave your current class, because you have dropped it, and want to join another instructor’s class, you must first ask your instructor to unroster you from your current class. You will also need to receive a new token from your new instructor. The same steps apply if you are switching classes with the same instructor.

To join a different class:

  1. Ask your current instructor to unroster you from their class. Ask your new instructor to provide you with the token for your new class.

  2. Click your account name in the upper-right corner of the FluencyLink screen to open the drop-down menu and select My Account. You should see that you are no longer part of a class.

  3. In the Add Class Enrollment Token field, paste the new token you received from your instructor and click the Add button.

  4. You will see that you are now associated with your new instructor’s class.

Purchasing Additional Book Subscriptions and Joining Additional Classes

After your user account has become a student user account, follow these steps to add new books and join additional classes (as needed).

To add additional access codes and join additional classes:

  1. Click your account name in the upper-right corner of the FluencyLink screen to open the drop-down menu and select My Account.

  2. In the Add Access Code field, paste your new access code and click the Add button. You will see your new book(s) on your dashboard. If these new materials are for your current class, you can stop here. If your new books are for a different class, proceed to step 3.

  3. In the Add Class Enrollment Token field, paste the token you received from your instructor for the new class and click the Add button.

  4. You will see that you are now associated with your new instructor’s class.
