  • Over the next few slides, we’ll be walking through the most important functions you will come across in FluencyLink. For the highest-quality video, click the play button and select “Full Screen”. It will take about an hour to complete this training.

Review: 

  • Click Learning Content and select “Library”

  • Navigate with arrow buttons, by selecting pages, or by choosing the correct thumbnail.

  • Find audio and video resources using the “Resources” tab or by clicking hotspots

  • Bookmark pages for easy access

  • Take notes and highlight text

  • Zoom in or out and change your view

In FluencyLink:

  • Open a textbook you’ll be working with this year

  • Navigate to and bookmark page 20

  • Find an audio recording and play it

  • Navigate to the next page and add a note to yourself

  • Highlight any word or sentence on page 42

  • Navigate back to your note

Review: 

  • Click “Learning Content” and “Assign Content” to access the module

  • Select the book(s) and the class(es) or groups you want to assign to and click “Assign”

  • If you get an error message, you may have exhausted your available licenses

    • Bulk Unassign to reassign books to different students

  • Only assign Workbooks if you want your students to be able to check their work on their own.

How to Access Teacher’s Resources (Video Walkthrough)


  • From the left sidebar, select “Teacher Resource”

  • Open the document associated with the desired resource

  • Click the download hotspot to download the zipped (compressed) folder to your computer

  • On PC, right-click and “Extract All”. On Mac, double-click.

How to Access Character Workbooks

  • Open the associated Workbook in your Library

  • From the left sidebar, select “Resources” and open the “Documents” folder

  • Click the desired portion to download as a pdf

Review:

  • Click a hotspot to work through a question

  • By default, students can check their answers

  • When the question is complete, students are given the opportunity to complete the section

  • If they click through the entire section and hit submit, their work will be submitted to you

Review:

  • All auto-gradable work must be an “Assignable Activity” (previously called “Standard Tests”). Assignable Activities can be used for homework, classwork, or formative assessment

  • Click “Activities” and select “Assignable Activities” to get to assignable work

  • Click the menu on a card and select the “Assign Test” icon (shaped like a checkbox) to assign a test.

    • Choose a class

    • Choose a due date. 3 clicks are required: Date, Hour, and Minute

    • Make available after Due Date if you would like

    • Click “Save”

Review:

  • Create a new Assignable Activity from scratch or edit an existing one by cloning it

  • Name your activity meaningfully

  • Set rules such as a time limit, shuffling questions, and checking answers on each attempt

  • Add questions from the Question Bank

  • Create your own questions

  • Remove unwanted questions

  • Publish

Test Yourself! Creating an Activity (10 mins)


Navigate to Assignable Activities

  • Clone an existing activity and rename it

  • Delete a question from your newly-cloned activity

  • Add a question from the Question Bank

  • Write your own questions

    • Write a “Single Choice” question with 4 answers (make sure to choose the correct answer!)

    • Edit the Question settings to make the question worth 20 points

    • Save and Add New

    • Add an Audio Recording Question

  • Publish

Review:

  • Click “Activities” and select “Evaluation”

  • Choose an activity to evaluate and click “Evaluate” under those Pending Evaluation

  • Expand sub-questions, type in a value, and enter feedback (if you would like to)

  • Save as Draft or Submit

  • Select Performance Report to see students in aggregate
