Question Types
To create a new question, click New Question at the top-left of the Question Bank.
You will see the following question types to choose from.
Comprehension Questions
Comprehension is a unique question type because it is a collection of questions. You can add multiple question types within one comprehension question.
(Note: You cannot add a comprehension type question within a comprehension question.)
Any text or media entered in this top-level space provided will be visible for all sub-questions.
(Note: If your subscription includes pre-made questions, they are all Comprehension questions. This space was used only for question titles and audio files for organizational purposes. Question text and images were only added to sub-questions.)
Any text entered in this top-level space provided will also show up in the Question Bank. Example:
Sub-Questions
Choose a question type by clicking on the Question menu, and create sub-questions for the comprehension question.
(Note: You can create questions with multiple question types in the Comprehension type questions format. For example, you could add two Single Choice questions, one Fill in the Blank question, and an Audio recording to a single Comprehension question.)
Set the question score
The platform provides a default scoring as 0 for comprehension questions. Comprehension is a collection of different question types, therefore all the settings (including scores) for individual questions will be kept intact in the comprehension question.
Single Choice
In a "Single Choice" type question, there is only a single correct answer and the rest of the options are distractors.
Enter the question text and the choices in the space provided, with the help of the Wysiwyg Editor.
(Note: It is mandatory to add a minimum of 2 choices for each question. You can add more than 2 choices for a question, by clicking on the “Add Choice” button. Click on the "Delete" icon in front of each choice to delete a choice.)
Select the correct answer by clicking on the radio button in front of each choice.
(Note: For single choice type of questions, you can have only one correct answer.)
Multiple Choice
In a multiple choice type question, there can be one or more correct answers.
Enter the question text and the choices in the space provided with the help of the Wysiwyg Editor.
(Note: It is mandatory to add a minimum of 2 choices for each question. You can add more than 2 choices for a question, by clicking on the “Add Choice” button. Click on the "Delete" icon in front of each choice to delete a choice.)
Select the correct answer by clicking on the tick button in front of each choice.
Ordering
Ordering questions require the student to rearrange a number of items into the correct order. This could be chronological or procedural, for example.
Enter the question text and the choices in the space provided, using the Wysiwyg Editor.
(Note: It is mandatory to add a minimum of 2 choices for each question. You can add more than 2 choices for a question, by clicking on the “Add Choice” button. Click on the "Delete" icon in front of each choice to delete a choice.)
The number in front of each choice refers to the correct sequence of the choices. Enter the choices in the correct order.
Association
Association type questions are used to assess the recognition and recall of related information. The response is deemed correct when the student has successfully matched all of the options.
Enter the question text, choices and the correct choice pair in the space provided, using the Wysiwyg Editor.
(Note: It is mandatory to add a minimum of 2 choice pairs for each question. You can add more than 2 choice pairs for a question, by clicking on the “Add Choice Pair” button. Click on the "Delete" icon in front of each choice to delete a choice.)
Match the Following
Match the following type of question provides a list of sub-questions, along with a list of answers. The student is required to "match" the correct answers with each question.
Enter the question text in the space provided and the matching choices in rows and columns, using the Wysiwyg Editor.
Click on the tick icon to select the correct matching answer for the respective rows and columns.
(Note: It is mandatory to add a minimum of 2 rows and 2 columns for each question. You can add more than 2 rows and columns for a question, by clicking on “Add Rows” and “Add Column.” Click on the "Delete" icon in front of a row to delete the row. Click on the "Delete" icon on every column to delete the column.)
Fill in the Blanks
Fill in the blank questions consist of a phrase, sentence, or paragraph with a blank space, where the respondent provides the missing word or phrase. You can create a question with single or multiple blank spaces. There is only a single correct answer for each blank. You can provide feedback on each question (question level feedback) and blanks (choice level feedback) for fill in the blank type questions.
Enter the question text in the space provided, using the Wysiwyg Editor.
Insert the “Blank” by clicking on the “Insert Fill in Blank Input” (in red above) in the Wysiwyg Editor.
Enter the correct answer in the blank answer space provided.
(Note: It is mandatory to insert at least one blank field for each question. You can add more than one blank field in the question by clicking on the “Insert Fill in Blank Input” in the Wysiwyg Editor.)
Fill in the Blanks with Dropdown
Fill in the Blank with Dropdown type questions consist of a phrase, sentence, or paragraph with a blank space where the respondent selects the missing word or phrase from the drop-down list. You can create a question with a single blank or multiple blanks. There is only a single correct answer for each blank.
Enter the question text in the space provided, using the Wysiwyg Editor.
Insert the “Blank” by clicking on the “Insert Fill in Blank Input” (in red above) in the Wysiwyg Editor.
Enter the dropdown answer options for each blank in the space provided.
(Note: The student will click on the dropdown in each blank and select the answer from the dropdown list provided here.)
Click on the tick icon to select the correct matching answer for the respective rows and columns.
(Note: It is mandatory to insert at least one blank field for each question. You can add more than one blank field in the question by clicking on the “Insert Fill in Blank Input” in the Wysiwyg Editor.)
Fill in the Blanks with Drag and Drop
Fill in the blanks with drag and drop questions consisting of a phrase, sentence, or paragraph with a blank space, where the student drags the missing word or words from the option list and drops in the blank space. You can create a question with single or multiple blanks. There is only a single correct answer for each blank. You can provide feedback on each question (question level feedback) and blank (choice level feedback) for fill in the blank with drag-drop type questions.
Enter the question text in the space provided using the Wysiwyg editor.
Insert the “Blank” by clicking on the “Insert Fill in Blank Input” (in red above) in the Wysiwyg Editor.
Enter the answer options for each blank in the space provided.
(Note: The student will drag the chosen answer options and drop them in the blank spaces provided in the questions.)
Click on the tick icon to select the correct matching answer for respective rows and columns.
(Note: It is mandatory to insert at least one blank field for each question. You can add more than one blank field in the question by clicking on the “Insert Fill in Blank Input” in the Wysiwyg Editor.)
Descriptive
Descriptive questions are open-ended questions. The answers could be in the form of a list, a single word, a few sentences, a paragraph or an essay. You can provide feedback on each question (question level feedback) for descriptive type questions.
Enter the question text in the space provided using the Wysiwyg editor .
Audio Recording
Audio recording type of questions allows the students to audio record their answers. You can provide feedback on each question (question level feedback) for audio recording type questions.
Enter the question text in the space provided using the Wysiwyg editor.
Choose the recording time limit from the drop-down list.
(Note: Students will be able to listen to their recordings, delete, and re-record as much as they like before submitting their recording.)
